As the parent of your sons and daughters it is your job to develop their moral and ethical conscience. To do so, you want to teach them self-restraint.  You are the model.  When you express anger by yelling, hitting, or throwing objects, expect your child to follow your example. 

This website will expose you to various effective childrearing techniques. As a single dad who raised two wonderful daughters, I can vouch that they work. Some of these will be shown to you in articles while others you can purchase. Everything placed on this website I’ve either written or studied thoroughly.

Just a little information about myself. I’m Michael Thal, an award winning writer and teacher with 28 years experience in the classroom with two master’s degrees in education to support my opinion.

When I was growing up, I had a father who yelled at me for every miscreant. As a teen, I purposefully annoyed him just to watch him turn red with anger. Don’t make my dad’s mistake. Pick the behavior you’d like to extinguish, one at a time. Once you’ve worked one problem through, choose another. Don’t turn yourself into an ogre screaming at every turn. Believe me, your child will appreciate your understanding more than you’ll ever know.
